The Flaming Lips are an American rock band, formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1983.
Melodically, their sound contains lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, but lyrically their compositions show elements of space rock, including unusual song and album titles—such as “Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles”, “Free Radicals (A Hallucination of the Christmas Skeleton Pleading with a Suicide Bomber)”, and “Yeah, I Know It’s a Drag… But Wastin’ Pigs Is Still Radical.” They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne’s signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience. In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die.”

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I get into the concert area?
Doors to the Grandstand typically open 90 minutes before the show begins. This is an approximate time and may vary depending on crowd size and other factors.
If you are in a general admission area where it is first-come seating, a line-up area will be designated with signage in the Plaza de Mexico area. If you have a ticket with a specific seat, enjoy the Fair activities until you’d like to come to your seat.
My tickets are at Will Call. How do I pick them up?
Tickets ordered through Ticketmaster for pickup at Will Call will be available the day of the concert starting at 10:00AM. The Will Call booth is at the O’Brien Gate, informally known as the “front gate.” At the booth, present your Ticketmaster confirmation number, along with a valid ID (state-issued driver’s license or ID card, passport or military identification).
Can I get something to eat or drink during the concert?
Yes. The stage area has many food-and-beverage locations, or you can buy something from a Fair food vendor and bring it into the concert area.
Can I use my camera?
Any photography activities that may be deemed a nuisance to the enjoyment of others is prohibited. Personal “point and shoot” cameras are permitted, but do not block the view of people around you.
The following photography items are strictly prohibited, and may not be used during concerts:
- No flash photography
- No video or audio recording

What are the authorized ticket sellers for Fair concert tickets?
There are only two authorized ticket sellers: Ticketmaster and the Fairgrounds Box Office. We strongly recommend you never purchase Fair concert or festival tickets from any other source. Tickets purchased from non-authorized sources could be counterfeit or stolen, which means the ticket will not be honored, and you will lose the money you paid.
